Dental Monitoring is a phone-based check-in tool we use between in-office visits. You scan, we review, and you only come in when an actual adjustment is needed.

How it works, fig. 02

Three steps. Phone in hand.

Dental Monitoring sits between you and our office. You handle the scans; we handle the clinical calls.

  1. No. 01Scan from home, every one to two weeksYou scan your teeth with the Dental Monitoring app using a small ScanBox that snaps onto your phone. The whole process takes about three minutes and replaces a routine in-office check.
  2. No. 02Our team reviews your scan, usually within a dayDr. Hoffman or Dr. Montoya reviews the scan and flags anything that needs attention. You get a message in the app confirming your progress, telling you to move to the next aligner, or asking you to come in.
  3. No. 03You only come in when an actual adjustment is neededIn-office checks happen roughly every 8 to 12 weeks instead of every 4 to 6. Emergencies, broken brackets, refinements, and the final retainer fitting still happen in the chair.
Why we use it
“Most of our patients drive twenty to forty minutes for a five-minute check. Dental Monitoring replaces those routine visits with a scan from your kitchen — and gives us earlier eyes on anything that needs attention.”- Dr. Hoffman & Dr. Montoya

Dental Monitoring is a tool, not a replacement for specialist care. Every scan is reviewed by Dr. Hoffman or Dr. Montoya, not an algorithm or an offshore vendor. The standard does not change because the check is remote.

What you get, fig. 03

Fewer visits. Same care.

Dental Monitoring is included in your treatment fee. Most patients save four to six routine office visits over the course of treatment.

  1. No. 01Limit trips to the officeFor families driving in from Middleburg, Green Cove Springs, Orange Park, and Oakleaf, fewer routine visits is real time back in your week. Most patients save four to six office visits over the course of treatment.
  2. No. 02Issues get caught earlier, not laterCompliance, tray fit, and tooth-movement deviations are flagged between visits instead of accumulating until your next appointment. Catching a problem at week 6 is faster and cheaper than catching it at week 12.
  3. No. 03Same specialist, same careYour scans are reviewed by Dr. Hoffman or Dr. Montoya, not a remote vendor. Dental Monitoring is a tool we use, not a substitute for specialist care.
Questions, fig. 04

Common questions.

The five things people most often ask before agreeing to Dental Monitoring.

Who is Dental Monitoring for?
Most clear-aligner patients use Dental Monitoring throughout treatment. Braces patients use it for compliance checks and elastic wear. Early-treatment cases are typically not on Dental Monitoring; those need hands-on visits.
Do I have to pay extra for Dental Monitoring?
No. Dental Monitoring is included in your treatment fee. The ScanBox is provided to you at the appointment where we set you up.
How often do I still need to come in?
In-office checks are roughly every 8 to 12 weeks instead of every 4 to 6. Emergencies, refinements, debond day, and the final retainer fitting still happen in our Fleming Island office.
What if my scan flags a problem?
You will get a message in the app within a business day. Most issues are handled with a tip from the doctor (e.g. wear your current tray a few more days, or fully seat your tray with chewies). If you need to come in, our front-desk team will reach out to schedule.
Is my data private?
Yes. Dental Monitoring is HIPAA compliant; scans and clinical messages are stored on encrypted, access-controlled servers. Only your orthodontic team at Oasis can see your scans.
